This year, most of customers asked us whether we can produce the water resistance silica alumina gel, which is similar with brand quality (it’s the famous and leading brand in the word). We gave the answer that at present, there’s no plant can produce it in China.
Below article will explain the difference between brand water resistance silica alumina and OIM Chemical.
1. Composition
· Brand WS silica gel: Made from alumino-silicate gel, which combines 97% silica (SiO₂) and 3% alumina (Al₂O₃). It is engineered to be water-resistant, specifically designed to absorb moisture without degrading when in contact with liquid water.
· OIM WS Silica Alumina Gel: This product typically contains both 85% SiO₂ and 15% Al₂O₃.
2. Water Resistance
· Brand WS silica gel: Known for its superior water resistance, it maintains its structural integrity and adsorption efficiency even after prolonged exposure to liquid water. It is specifically designed for environments where direct water contact or high humidity is expected.
· OIM WS Silica Alumina Gel: It’s also water-resistant. But may not be as reliable over long periods or in extreme water exposure conditions. Surely in air separation and oil chemical industry, it’s water-resistant function is enough.
3. Adsorption Capacity
· Brand WS silica gel: Known for its high adsorption capacity, particularly in high-humidity environments. It can effectively adsorb moisture even when exposed to liquid water, making it ideal for demanding applications like natural gas drying and air drying.
· OIM WS Silica Alumina Gel: Also capable of adsorbing moisture in humid conditions, but the adsorption efficiency can vary. Such as in RH80% condition, the water adsorption is less than 1-2% than brand WS silica gel. However they still perform much better than standard silica gels.
4. Applications
· Brand WS silica gel: Used in critical industrial applications such as natural gas dehydration, compressed air drying, and processes where water exposure is common. It is the preferred choice for long-term, high-performance moisture adsorption in environments where reliability is paramount.
· OIM WS Silica Alumina Gel: Also suitable for moisture adsorption in industrial applications, though typically used where performance needs are less critical. It is often chosen for applications where budget constraints are a factor, but water exposure is still a concern.
5. Techniques
Different production process will lead to the difference for the characteristics and structures of silica alumina gel. The techniques of OIM Chemical is different from foreign brand. So some parameters will also have small difference. However for the natural gas drying, air separation etc, it will not affect its application.
6. Price
· Brand WS silica gel: Higher cost due to its advanced properties, higher performance, and longer lifespan.
· OIM WS Silica Alumina Gell: Typically more affordable.
OIM Chemical silica alumina gel is definetely a certain gap with brand silica gel. But if consider replace them in 3~5 years of use, our silica alumina gel can be considered as an alternative in terms of performance stablity, durability.
