CORK CONSTITUTION MAY have lost this year’s Ulster Bank League final, but the driving force of their second row didn’t go unnoticed as Conor Kindregan was this evening named Player of the Year.
Ireland head coach Joe Schmidt was present to hand out the awards, with the 24-year-old Galway native taking the top prize after an impressive season.
Kindregan, once a Connacht A second row partner of Ultan Dillane, came out on top with competition from Young Munster’s Ger Slattery and Clontarf’s Mick McGrath.
This season’s champions, ‘Tarf had their names on three of the BIG awards on the night. Leinster academy out-half Joey Carbery was named Division 1A Rising Star of the Year ahead of UCD’s Peadar Timmins and Young Munster’s Gearoid Lyons.
Title-winning Andy Wood was named Coach of the Year in Division 1A ahead of David Corkery (Young Munster) and Noel McNamara (UCD). Scott Deasy of Lansdowne collected a reward for being the highest points scorer in the division, while McGrath picked up the gong for most tries.
