As noted, Rey Mysterio, who has been negotiating with WWE regarding a potential return and match at WrestleMania 34, suffered what appears to be a torn biceps at this weekend’s Northeast Wrestling event.
PWInsider.com’s Paul Crockett, who was in attendance for the match, had the following to say on the injury:
“I wouldn’t call this the smoothest encounter I’ve ever seen, but as far as building heat to a hot tag, then building heat to an even hotter tag that lead to an explosion after the finish, this was effective. Rey is a superstar for a reason, and Flip is building his way to eventually becoming one. Flip benefited greatly from being in there with him. The finish saw Rey hit a double 619, followed by a top rope splash on Konley for the win.”
The PWInsider report furthers Mysterio and Triple H were set to meet before the Northeast Wrestling event to try and finalize terms of Mysterio’s new deal, however, Triple H was called away at the last minute to finalize the new Saudi Arabia TV deal with Vince McMahon.
Additionally, Mysterio is also scheduled to face Jushin Liger at the New Japan Pro Wrestling “Strong Style Evolved” event in Long Beach, CA on March 25th, however that match, and Mysterio’s immediate future, are now up in the air until he can have the severity of his injury evaluated.
