WWE has officially announced that Rey Mysterio will return to Monday Night Raw next week in Austin, Texas to relinquish the WWE United States Championship.
Mysterio won the title from Samoa Joe in controversial fashion at Money in the Bank, and suffered a partially torn shoulder during a post-match beatdown. The two veteran stars were in the midst of a program building towards the involvement of Rey’s son Dominic, who has been training as a wrestler for the last few years.

Next week’s Raw is the go-home show ahead of WWE Super Showdown in Saudi Arabia, so it’s likely we’ll see some kind of last minute set-up to crown a new champion on that show.
