RMC Sport report this afternoon that Paris Saint-Germain have informed Mauricio Pochettino that he will imminently be relieved of his duties as manager.

The Argentine is still under contract until the end of next season, but amid an overhaul in the club’s upper management he was unlikely to make it past this summer, after a disappointing 18 months in charge which nevertheless culminated in a Ligue 1 title.

Although he was expected to leave this summer, Pochettino has preferred to remain ambiguous on his future, telling Catalan channel Esport3 that he was staying calm amid the rumours of a departure, and that the club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi would be explaining his new project soon.

The new project will evidently take shape without him, with Luis Campos arrival as sporting advisor – replacing the outgoing sporting director Leonardo – signalling the start of a new era at the club.

It remains to be seen whether his replacement will be Zinédine Zidane – who RMC were reporting was close to an agreement with PSG – or one of Luis Campos’ choices. The former Lille man was said to be keen on working with Nice manager Christophe Galtier again, with the two men masterminding Les Dogues’ surprise title win in 2020/21.
