According to The LA Times, which has published a new article updating Conor McGregor’s legal issues and a possible return to UFC, this past Saturday night’s UFC 225 event, which featured the return of CM Punk, did not draw well. The report notes the following:
The UFC has struggled for pay-per-view buys — as it did Saturday, when an industry official said less than 150,000 purchased the Robert Whittaker-headlined card in Chicago — while the highly popular, animated former champion who has fought from 145 to 170 pounds went skidding off the rails.
It’s worth noting that The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting other early estimates have UFC 225 drawing much higher than 150,000 buys, and the final number should be available soon.
