L’Équipe report this morning that Dutch international winger Memphis Depay has decided that he wants to leave Lyon this summer.

The 25-year-old has a quasi-father/son relationship with President Aulas, who was particularly proud to sign the Dutchman in January 2017 from Manchester United. But the journey is set to end – Depay feels that he has shown enough to catapult himself back to a club in Europe’s top 10.

Clubs continue to watch his performances with interest, but OL will refuse to even entertain discussions for anything less than €30m. His biggest problem for potential buyers is the image that he has created of himself. Teams are not stupid, they are aware of his intense extra-curricular off-pitch efforts and his regular dressing room bust-ups.

His international form certainly makes him an attractive prospect, but no obvious candidates have lined up yet for the Dutchman. There are murmurs that Liverpool are weighing up his profile in the event that they lose an attacking centrepiece this summer (Sadio Mané to Real Madrid?).
