As seen on SmackDown earlier this week, Rusev and Aiden English defeated Sheamus and Cesaro to win a mini-tournament. This win earned Rusev Day a match against The New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at Hell in a Cell this Sunday night. Although the match had previously been scheduled to take place during the main pay-per-view, WWE has just alerted fans that the match has been moved to the Kickoff Show that will air before Hell in a Cell officially begins. As of right now, the tag team title match between the two SmackDown teams is the only match set for the pre-show. The Kickoff Show for Hell in a Cell begins this Sunday night at 6pm ET, and the main show starts one hour later.
Lucha Libre standouts Pentagon Jr. and Fenix have reportedly captured the attention of WWE. While it seemed as if a move to NXT or one of WWE’s other programs was a forgone conclusion for the wrestling brothers, recent reports claim that the two of them have begun to accept independent bookings for next year, and Pentagon himself even said that he would not be going anywhere during a PCW event. In a new interview with Fightful, Pentagon finally addressed the WWE rumors by claiming that he has actually not received any sort of offer at all from the company. Pentagon said that he is pleased with his wrestling career at the moment and would have to evaluate WWE’s offer in order to consider joining the company. “I would have to take a look at the offer and see what’s out there before committing to an answer.” Said the current Lucha Underground Champion.
WWE fans were delighted to see Rey Mysterio make a special guest appearance during the men’s Royal Rumble match earlier this year. A few more guest appearances and a spot in the upcoming WWE 2K19 video game later, Mysterio has admitted that he and WWE are currently in the midst of negotiations that will see the former WWE Champion re-sign with the company. However, Mysterio provided an update during an interview on Apter Chat, saying that a WWE return is not guaranteed after all. Rey says that he enjoys competing on the independent circuit and would have no issue remaining on the indies for a while. However, he still did not outright deny that he won’t be back in WWE again someday.
“I’ll tell you what though, if the time is right and there’s an agreement on both ends, meaning WWE and myself, and there’s an offer on the table, I wouldn’t say no. If it’s correct. If it’s the right one. But in the meantime, I’m still enjoying my liberty out here in independent wrestling.” Rey said.
