According to Foot Mercato, Lille coach Paulo Fonseca had a heated discussion with club president Olivier Létang before their 3-1 win against Rennes. It was even reported that the interaction was intense enough for the coach to suggest that the president was interfering with his team’s preparation.

However, as transcribed by L’Équipe, the Portuguese coach refused to comment on the situation stating, “If we have a problem, we must solve it internally.”

It seems the lack of incoming players during the transfer window may have added to the growing discontent between the two. In terms of football, the 49-year-old not only started the season well but has gotten his team back into winning form and within reach of a top-five finish after a convincing win over rivals, 5th place Rennes.

On top of their success in the league, they also are still in the hunt for silverware for this season. The Dogs take on Lyon in the Coupe de France on February 8th. However, if emotions are spilling over while winning things could be getting worse very soon. LOSC has a very difficult stretch of games coming up and will need to fire on all cylinders to stay in the hunt to play in Europe next season.
