We know there have been about a million reports in recent weeks on Daniel Bryan and Rey Mysterio, specifically with regard to their futures with WWE, so we’ve put the very latest news on both superstars in one place.

According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Bryan has been removed from some upcoming weekend WWE Live events to lessen his schedule, which has been a big part of the ongoing negotiation process. During his three years away from the ring Bryan was able to spend a considerable amount of it with his family, and now with being a first-time father he’s obviously looking to spend as much time as possible at home, while still continuing to wrestle, which has always been his number one passion.

As of now, he has not officially signed a new deal with WWE, but it’s a good sign that they are willing to work with his requests and lighten the live touring schedule. There were reports that he had signed a multi-year deal, but it later came out that while a three-year deal was offered to Bryan, what he actually signed was a short-term extension, as his original deal was coming due on 9/1.

As far as Rey Mysterio goes, the Observer is reporting that the lucha legend and former world champion is “very close” to making his highly-anticipated returns. He made surprise appearances at both the Royal Rumble and Greatest Royal Rumble this year, receiving tremendous reacts for both, which certainly didn’t hurt his negotiating power when WWE began making offers to get him back.

His final dates appear to be in the first weekend of September. He is being billed as one of the top stars of the ridiculously stacked ALL IN show on 9/1, and while there was talk going around that he might pull his date in order to work SummerSlam, with his match being officially announced earlier this week, it’s pretty much for certain that he won’t be bailing on the event. Mysterio has one more date left on his schedule, the day after ALL IN, so any time after that he’s free to make his WWE return, provided that the two sides are able to come to an agreement.

Just like with Bryan, but to an even greater degree, Mysterio ideally wants to work a part-time schedule. More than likely that would mean fewer weekend live events, and perhaps something similar to Ronda Rousey’s current deal, where she works about half the weekly TV tapings, and is saved for specific live events in major markets.
