Following his side’s defeat to PSG this evening in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16, Real Madrid left-back Ferland Mendy, who spent some time in the PSG youth squads, spoke to Canal+.

“We’re very disappointed,” said the Frenchman. “There were opportunities, we conceded a goal in stoppage time… When we had the ball, they pressed well. We came back out better in the second half and that created more spaces.”

The defender continued to think about the second leg, saying “we have to raise our game. We’ll be at home for the return leg.”

Mendy had “nothing else to say” about Kylian Mbappé, other than the fact that “we knew he brought a lot to his team, he scores this goal…”

The second leg will be played on Wednesday 9th March in Madrid.
