Don Lemon tackled the latest blackface controversy making headlines on Tuesday.

But the “CNN Tonight” host couldn’t help laughing at the story of two white Baton Rouge, Louisiana, police narcotics investigators who wore blackface as part of an undercover sting operation in 1993.

“There is no way anyone could have missed that these were in fact not black people,” said Lemon. After composing himself, Lemon noted the “real issue” was the lack of black officers in the Baton Rouge Police Department at the time.

“Let’s learn from the past. Correct it in the future,” he added.
