In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer speculated that WWE might be finished using Hall of Famer Jim Ross in a lead announcer capacity, as he is not calling this year’s Mae Young Classic, which he called last year.
Furthermore, Ross did not call this year’s WWE UK Title tournament events, something Ross also called last year, leading to speculation that WWE does not intend on using Ross on TV moving forward.

With current plans calling for Tommaso Ciampa to challenge Aleister Black for the WWE NXT Title on July 25th, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports it’s likely the bout is being used to set up another Ciampa vs Johnny Gargano match at NXT Takeover Brooklyn.
Current promos indicate NXT is likely headed in that direction, but what remains to be seen is whether or not the bout is for the NXT Title. Ciampa could win the title on July 25th then go on to defend it at Takeover against Gargano, or Gargano could screw Ciampa out of the title on the 25th, setting up the Takeover bout.
Two more indications that NXT might be looking to book Ciampa vs Gargano at Takeover are that Triple H suggested in a recent interview that fans have not seen the last of this feud, and with Ciampa getting the win in their last match, it makes sense to end the angle with a final Gargano victory.
