The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has implemented the HIV AIDS (prevention and control) Act 2017 effective from September 10 in the country.
The Act which was passed by the parliament in March aims to empower people living with HIV.

According to the act, any discrimination against an HIV+ person in fields of employment, health care services, educational services, public facilities, property rights, holding public office, and insurance is a criminal offence.
