Last night’s special Thursday edition of AEW Dynamite on TNT averaged 813,000 viewers, up 7.7 percent from the episode that aired on Saturday night. That’s despite heavy competition from coverage of the Republican National Convention that included a speech from President Donald Trump.
In the 18-49 demo, Dynamite averaged a 0.29 rating, down 6.5 percent from Saturday. The show finished 11th on cable in that category. With no sports competition on the night, Dynamite was second in the demo among non-news programming.
The combined wrestling audience for NXT and AEW between Wednesday and Thursday this week was 1.637 million, the highest since February 5. That’s to be expected with the shows airing on different nights. It was up 16 percent from the last time both shows aired on the same night.
This week’s NXT averaged 824,000 viewers. The rating in the 18-49 demo was a 0.24.

In the individual demo categories, and comparing them to Saturday’s totals, Dynamite did: women 18-49 — 0.19 (even), men 18-49 — 0.39 (down 11.4 percent), people 18-34 — 0.19 (down 9.5 percent), females 12-34 — 0.14 (up 7.7 percent), males 12-34 — 0.25 (even), people 25-54 — 0.33 (down 5.7 percent), and people over 50 — 0.30 (up 20 percent)
Next week’s Dynamite is scheduled to be back in its regular Wednesday night time slot. It will be unopposed due to next week’s NXT moving to Tuesday night because of the NHL playoffs.
