According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, 28-year-old Kacy Catanzaro is being brought into Brooklyn, NY for this weekend’s NXT Takeover event at the Barclays Center. It’s unknown whether or not she will appear in the crowd, or if they are just getting her ready to debut on NXT television in the coming weeks.
Catanzaro is a gymnast and a freak athlete, gaining popularity for her tenure on American Ninja Warrior where she set all kinds of “firsts” for women in the competition. She has been a fan of professional wrestling for a very long time, and was brought to the WWE Performance Center in January 2017 for a tryout. “Mighty Kacy” has been working NXT Live events since April and some of her recent performances have draw rave reviews from fans in attendance, as far as her athleticism and some of the moves she is capable of.
It’s worth noting that Catanzaro is a part of this year’s Mae Young Classic, which doesn’t begin airing until the first week of September. So even if they do bring Catanzaro in for NXT Takeover this weekend, it’s unlikely they will use her on next week’s television tapings – at least not for the first few episodes – because it will creative a problematic continuity issue.
Just so you all know. That's exactly how you should get in a WWE ring. @KacyCatanzaro is doing it right. #MYC2 pic.twitter.com/6sZLb5PSRP
