When it comes to filling up large buildings every single week, WWE usually has other wrestling promotions beat. However, independent wrestling sensations Cody Rhodes and The Young Bucks are looking to change that once and for all. Pro Wrestling Sheet has reported that the trio is currently planning a future event in a building that seats 10,000 people for 2018. This would be a remarkable accomplishment for independent pro wrestling if the team is successful in pulling it off. The event is still said to be in the planning process at the moment, but Rhodes and the Bucks definitely intend on having it become a reality by next year.
The choice to take on such a large task seems to have stemmed from an earlier prediction made by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer. Earlier this year, Meltzer tweeted his belief that ROH would not be able to sell out a 10,000 seat building “any time soon,” which prompted Rhodes to “take that bet.” The team has reportedly been working on the event ever since, and they are also said to be self-financing it as well. The report mentions that the plan is to partner with ROH and to host the show in either Los Angeles, San Francisco, London, or Chicago. Just recently, Cody tweeted out a photo of himself and his Bullet Club teammates looking for a venue to host the event.

A list of WWE pay-per-views scheduled for 2018 was released last week, and it showed that the company is going to be reducing the number of shows from this year and last year, and the Money in the Bank show is being altered to feature both Raw and Smackdown talent. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has shed some light as to why WWE made this move, and it all has to do with the numbers. The report states that the cost of running additional pay-per-views has been rather high and it has not done much to boost their WWE Network subscriber numbers. The company is currently scheduled to put on 14 pay-per-views in 2018.
