F4W NEWSLETTER: Figure Four Weekly: Recapping WWE Evolution

An incredible amount of devotion from all involved resulted in WWE’s first all-women’s pay-per-view being a special night and a strong contender for the company’s best show of the year. Evolution wasn’t just an event that was worthy of its place in history — it elevated it. The wrestlers who competed in the ring, everyone involved with putting the PPV together, and the fans in attendance all worked in unison to make Evolution a show that exceeded all reasonable expectations.

SUNDAY NEWS UPDATE

Garrett Gonzalez and I did two weekend shows that are up on the site, the first covering Crown Jewel and explaining why the booking decisions happened the way they did. The second covers UFC 230 and New Japan Power Struggle, as well as Brock Lesnar’s contract info, Tokyo Dome card and much more.

There isn’t a lot from WWE house shows. The Raw shows are being headlined by Seth Rollins vs. Baron Corbin for the IC title.  Ronda Rousey and Nikki Bella are working the Raw women’s title matches on the house shows. Daniel Bryan is on the Smackdown shows against Miz.

For this past weekend when it comes to Google searches, UFC 230 did more than 1,050,000 searches so that would indicate a PPV number in the same range as Daniel Cormier’s two prior shows this year which both did similar search numbers. Crown Jewel on Friday did 100,000, which was the same as Evolution the week before, both extremely low for WWE shows, so interest levels were way down among the public.
