One of the most talked about topics among The WWE Universe in recent months has been whether or not Dean Ambrose will legitimately be leaving the company after his contact expires following WrestleMania. WWE had recently sent a statement confirming Ambrose’s departure, saying that Ambrose “will not be renewing his contract with WWE when it expires in April.”
“We are grateful and appreciative of all that Dean has given to WWE and our fans,” the statement read. “We wish him well and hope that one day Dean will return to WWE.”
Soon after the statement was released, a few reports including one from Bryan Alvarez of Wrestling Observer Live, mentioned that some people backstage in WWE are even under the impression that Ambrose is actually staying with the company. Alvarez would make it clear that he did not report that Ambrose is staying, just that there were rumors over the weekend that he is not leaving.
On Monday’s episode of RAW, Ambrose’s departure was mentioned for the first time since the news broke online, with Renee Young adding that he is “moving on to greener pastures.”
On a recent episode of The Wrestling Observer Radio Program, Dave Meltzer would confirm that Dean Ambrose is definitely still leaving WWE when his contract expired. Apparently, as of last Monday night’s RAW, word from backstage personnel is that Ambrose is definitely on his way out.
Ambrose will reunite with Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns this Sunday to reform The Shield in a 6-Man Tag Team Match against Baron Corbin, Bobby Lashley & Drew McIntyre at WWE Fastlane.
