Augustana challenges U-Mary and Minot State

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — After seeing a four-match winning streak snapped, the newly-ranked No. 14 Augustana wrestling team travels to North Dakota this weekend. The Vikings take on U-Mary (4-4, 2-4 NSIC) on Saturday at 7 p.m. and face off with Minot State (4-9, 1-5 NSIC) on Sunday at 2 p.m.

Holding a 4-2 overall record and 3-2 NSIC mark, the Vikings go head-to-head with U-Mary who are coming off of two straight losses to then No. 9 Minnesota State and No. 19 Upper Iowa. In their road trip to Mankato, U-Mary held tough against the Mavericks in a 22-18 defeat which came down to the final match.

The last meeting between the two programs was last season as the Vikings defeated U-Mary 26-10.

The Marauders will face off with Southwest Minnesota State prior to Saturday’s matchup with Augustana.

In Sunday’s match, the Vikings take on Minot State who carries a two-match win streak into the weekend. The Beavers defeated No. 25 Northern State 25-20 last weekend and followed up the victory with a 33-12 win over Dickinson State on Wednesday.

Last season, the Vikings took down the Beavers 36-3.

Minot State will also take on Southwest Minnesota State before hosting the Vikings this weekend.

Following the weekend’s matches, Augustana plays host to No. 1 St. Cloud State in the regular-season finale on Thursday, February 14 at 7 p.m. in the Elmen Center.
