In a virtual rerun of 2014 Badaun case, two sisters were found hanging from a tree in Dhumana Deeppur village under Gunnaur police station jurisdiction on Sambhal on Sunday. Police said though the family of the victims claimed that they hanged themselves after being scolded for not doing domestic chores, the honour killing angle was also being probed.
The family’s neighbours claimed that the girls were upset as the family had fixed their marriage without their consent. The police confirmed that the two sisters — Kavita Yadav (19) and Seema Yadav (18) were to get married in March next. In May 2014, two minor girls were found hanging in Badaun district after which a CBI probe had been ordered. It was believed that the girls had been raped and hanged but the CBI report said that they had committed suicide.
