Solid waste management in the national capital Delhi is increasingly becoming the need of the hour. The mountain of garbage in the capital is gaining an enormous size as it is becoming difficult handling the plastic waste. The waste especially at Ghazipur landfill site is already overloaded and if unchecked, it will become taller than the Taj Mahal by 2020.
Delhi has huge workforce of waste collectors, scrap dealers and recyclers but nothing concrete has been achieved so far in this regard.
