Paris Saint-Germain host Chelsea in their opening group-stage match of the UEFA Women’s Champions League 2022/23 season on Thursday evening. Ahead of the game, the return of Kheira Hamraoui should be a massive boost for the Parisien side.
As reported by L’Équipe, Hamraoui has finally joined the PSG squad since her suspension in April. The 32-year-old midfielder was attacked by a group of men, allegedly hired by her former teammate Aminata Diallo for €500 in November 2021.
Her last appearance for PSG came in the championship fixture against Issy-les-Moulineaux on April 16. Following an altercation with her teammates, the former Barcelona midfielder was suspended back then.
Although Hamraoui was reinstated in the first team time last month, she had not been called up for a competitive fixture until Wednesday when she made the squad prior to a mouthwatering Champions League encounter on Thursday.
Ahead of the match, coach Gérard Prêcheur said, “We must have an upper hand over our opponent, both tactically and mentally. We are developing well tactically. What the group produced against Dijon and what I saw in the training this week is very positive.”
