Speaking to Le Parisien under a pseudonym, Nasser Al-Khelaifi’s former personal assistant of seven years has claimed that she was fired after a burnout, and is now launching legal action against beIN Sports.
“Myriam” claims that from 2018 to 2020 she was made to do a three-man job herself, which led to a burnout-related depression and a two and a half-month period of sick leave. She explains that during her seven years as Al Khelaifi’s PA, she was a “soldier” and that she was constantly working. After a minor car accident, she returned to work from the period of sick leave to find that he position had been removed and that she no longer had a desk. The ex-employee explains that she was asked to train a new assistant who would help her, but who in fact became her replacement.
She was fired in February of this year and claims that her North African origins played a part in this. She has launched legal action with the labour court over “unfair dismissal”. She also claims that 120 to 150 people left the PSG management in the last two years following a “McKinsey audit” in which it was “mostly North Africans who bore the consequences”.
A lawyer for beIN insists that the former employee is “blackmailing” them, explaining that she had initially asked for €700,000 in compensation, which would be nine years’ worth of wages, but then lowered her demands. Charles Mathieu adds that the company tried to offer her different positions, which were turned down.
